  • Best car in its class for 2016

By 2016 Civic Driver on Friday, April 27, 2018

Really a great value. Two minor complaints: the CVT can be jerk-y when going uphill at a low speed, i.e. 10 mph. Also, they could have included more/larger cup holders in the interior. Other than that, the car is very reliable, and for a baseline model it has lots of features that usually are only found on more expensive versions of other makes. The car is rated for 41 mpg freeway, but I have achieved up to 49 mpg using Eco mode and cruise control while driving 65 mph on the freeway in flat terrain. Driving around town, I get about 30-33 mpg. The car has plenty of room and is comfortable, and the new 2016 body style is a major improvement compared to previous models. I would definitely recommend this car!

Switched from a Mercedes Benz C300 to this car for financial reasons. Had most of the same features and more safety features that were standard. While it does not have the same German car feel, it was an easy car to transition into. Real time driving earns me 31 MPG. I drive it hard and push it to its limits. It handles it all. Oil change went from $200-$400 down to $30-$50. I don’t get a loaner anymore, but I can rent a car for $30...still ahead of the game. I loved my Benz, but my Honda is a champion.
  • Good car, A/C problem

Good car in terms of price, mileage, and performance. However, my A/C stopped working after 1 year. It is covered under warranty but I had to dig a bit for the service department to admit it is a problem with all 2018 Civics. My wife has an Odyssey and had numerous recalls with her car too. I get Hondas for their reliability, but I've now lost my trust in Honda reliability. Still a good car, but I'll be shopping around. They are trying to hide the fact that they put bad A/C units in their cars.
